The O.K. Lodging House

The Daily Californian reported in its "Randsburg Notes" section, that "A most enjoyable dance was held in the O.K. Lodging House..." This was in December of 1896. The Lodging House was run by Sophie Knight; her daughter Ione married Charles A. Bull who was one of the owners of the King Solomon Mine in Johannesburg. It appears from the photo that it was located on upper Butte Avenue. The man on the far right is C. W. Tucker, photographer. Based on his photos pinned to the door frame it is assumed that this was his first residence when he moved to Randsburg.
