California Mojave Desert


Where is the Mojave Desert?

The geographic areas defined in this section are somewhat broadly defined and may overlap in some cases. The mountain regions making up the border, are described as subsections within the generalized regions as well as a separate list at the bottom of this page.

Western Mojave
    This is the more populated section of the California Mojave Desert. Includes the Antelope Valley, Victor Valley, Barstow area and Mojave River communities as well as the Lucerne Valley.

Southern Mojave
    Includes Morongo Basin communities, Joshua Tree National Park and gold mines and ghost towns.

Northern Mojave
    Northern Mojave Desert communities, parks, landmarks, mountain ranges and attractions north to Bodie Ghost Town and including Death Valley National Park, Trona Pinnacles, the eastern Sierra Nevada, White Mountains and more...

Eastern Mojave
    This region includes what many would consider the deep, true, Mojave Desert. Communities are in most cases sparse, and settlements are sporadic throughout. The area is more indentifiable as being described by sections between interstates, highways and roads as most names of towns and features are unfamiliar to the casual traveler. Mojave National Preserve to the Colorado River, Arizona and more.
