Camp Cady

Camp Cady

Camp Cady is an intriguing spot located along the Mojave River in California, with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Originally established as a military post in the 1860s, it served as a base for protecting settlers and travelers from Native American raids during the Indian Wars. The camp was named after Major Albemarle Cady, who was in charge of the troops stationed there.

Nowadays, Camp Cady is more about preserving history and the natural environment. The site is part of a wildlife area managed by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. It’s a peaceful retreat where you can explore the desert landscape, spot wildlife, and even do some birdwatching. The area offers a glimpse into what life might have been like in the Old West while also providing a space to enjoy the quiet beauty of the Mojave Desert.
