Route 66 - Cajon Pass

Cajon Junction

Cajon Junction is a little community where two major roads—California State Route 138 (better known as Pearblossom Highway) and Interstate 15—come together. It's tucked into the northern edge of Cajon Pass, right in the middle of San Bernardino County.

Sitting at about 3,100 feet above sea level, the area is squeezed between two mountain ranges: the San Gabriels to the southwest and the San Bernardinos to the east. That means you're surrounded by rugged hills and sweeping views that change with the light and seasons.

Cajon Junction also has a bit of history under its belt. It’s right near the path of the old National Old Trails Road—one of the early cross-country routes that helped people head west. And it’s not far from the famous San Andreas Fault, which is why this region has always been a hot topic when it comes to earthquakes.

Just up the road are the Mormon Rocks—dramatic, towering formations that got their name from the Mormon pioneers who passed through the pass in the 1850s. These formations are a magnet for folks who love geology, history, or just a good place to stretch their legs and take in the scenery.

Cajon Junction located at the intersection of California State Route 138 (Pearblossom Highway) and Interstate 15, is an unincorporated community in the northern Cajon Pass area, within San Bernardino County, California.

The junction lies at an elevation of 3,113 feet (949 meters) between the foothills of the northeastern San Gabriel Mountains and San Bernardino Mountains.
