Turner Barn (site)![]() A barn once stood near Lane’s Mojave River Crossing, associated with what later became known as Turner Ranch. Local tradition holds that the structure was relocated from Big Bear Valley, reflecting a common frontier practice of dismantling and re-erecting serviceable buildings where timber and materials were scarce. The barn served a strictly utilitarian role, supporting ranch operations tied to the Mojave River corridor rather than functioning as a permanent or decorative structure. No contemporary records are known to document its construction or relocation, and its origin should be regarded as oral history rather than established fact. In later years, the barn collapsed from age and exposure and was subsequently removed. No formal preservation effort was recorded. Today, no standing remains are visible, and the barn survives only through local memory and historical association with the crossing. |
