Saline Valley Salt Tram
Remarkably pure salt was extracted from the brine in the Saline Valley salt lake at the salt works. The salt was loaded on to the tram which carried it 7,500 feet up to the crest of the Inyo Mountains, then 5,200 feet down to a point near Swansea in the Owens Valley, 13 miles away. ![]() ![]()
