Highway 14

Highway 14 was originally part of U.S. Route 6, a transcontinental highway, before being re-designated in 1964. It has long served as a key route connecting Los Angeles to the high desert, supporting early settlers, miners, and later, the aerospace industry in the Antelope Valley.

The highway saw major expansions in the mid-20th century, including its transformation into the Antelope Valley Freeway. The 1994 Northridge earthquake caused significant damage to the I-5 and Highway 14 interchange, highlighting its importance. Today, Highway 14 remains a vital corridor for commuters, travelers, and those accessing the Mojave Desert and eastern Sierra Nevada.
