Eagle Cliff Mine Overview

One of the oldest mines in the park, founded in 1895.

Notable Feature: The historic miner's cabin, affectionately called the "Boulder House," is ingeniously nestled among the surrounding boulders.

Trail Information:

Distance: About 2.3 miles round trip.
Elevation Gain: About 570 feet.
Moderate. Steep in sections with loose rocks. Care is needed in footing.
Trailheads are accessible from the Split Rock Trailhead or the Desert Queen Mine Trailhead. Since the routes are unmarked, it is necessary to have decent navigation skills.

What's in Store:

Historic Structures: Remains of mining operations, including a well-preserved cabin and mine shafts can be seen. Safety Note: Do not enter mine shafts.
View Scenic: Panoramic desert views, which typically include a glimpse at wildlife and rock formations.

Tips For Visitors:

Navigation: Trails are unmarked; bring a GPS device or download a reliable map.

Best time to visit: September through June; in hotter months, get an early start and drink plenty of water.

Gear: Hike in strong boots and wear sun protection.

Leave No Trace: Leave the artifacts and site in place to preserve the history.
