Maverick StadiumAdelanto Plaza & Event Center opened in 1991 as Mavericks Stadium, a minor league baseball park bringing the High Desert Mavericks to Adelanto, California, as its principal draw. The stadium immediately became a local favorite, often sending in record-breaking crowds and quickly gaining the reputation of a hitter-friendly park. The facility has also gone through a few name changes, including Stater Bros. Stadium and Heritage Field.During 2016, the Mavericks played their last game before the team was contracted out, thus ending an era for the California League in Adelanto. Some post-game vandalism did take place inside the stadium, but it was kept open under the management of the city, hosting different activities and even briefly housing the Pecos League's High Desert Yardbirds in 2017. Now Adelanto Stadium, home to the community for more than baseball, it still holds its history as a central location for local sports and entertainment in the High Desert. |
