The clues to the past are scattered around Holcomb Valley. With a self-guided auto tour brochure you will be able
to bring the valley to life.
Season: Spring, summer, fall (check road conditions during wet seasons).

Degree of Difficulty: Easy. Rough road in places. Moderate to strenuous by bicycle.
Duration: 3-4 hours, 12 miles
Points of Interest: See the sites of Two-Gun Bill's saloon, Belleville, the Pygmy Cabin, and Ross's Grave. Visit the Hangman's Tree;
legend has it that after an outlaw was hanged on a branch, that branch was sawed off. How many outlaws were hung there? Count the
sawn branches to find out. See mine tailings and stamp mills.
Pebble Plains and North Baldwin Lake Ecological Reserve
One of the area's most notable sites of international significance. Walk among one of the highest concentrations of rare plant
species in California. The Pebble Plains has shallow clay soils that make it difficult for shrubs and trees to grow. Look
for the small tufted plants that are able to exist here. They are easily damaged so please stay on the trail.

Duration: 3/4 - 1 3/4 miles

Degree of Difficulty: High clearance vehicles only, 4-wheel drive, motorcycles, mountain bikes.
