Titus Canyon

Death Valley photo, Titus Canyon

One of the most interesting features is the megabreccia composed of large angular fragments of grey limestone. The interstitial spaces between these fragments are filled with white travertine, a kind of limestone deposited from mineral-bearing groundwater. More deposition of layers of travertine has developed this very distinct pattern indicative of tectonic and groundwater activities within this area.
