Springs
Mesquite SpringsMesquite Springs, a natural spring in the Bristol Mountains, has been an important source of water in this desert environment. The Bristol Mountains rise to elevations of 3,874 feet and lie west of the Mojave National Preserve, crossing over Interstate 40 in the stretch between Ludlow and the Granite Mountains. Rugged terrain and a diversity of desert flora and fauna characterize the area around Mesquite Springs. The spring gives life to a very dense population of mesquite trees and other vegetation, forming a very unique microhabitat in the outlaying desert landscape. The spring itself is not developed as a recreational area; however, the surrounding Bristol Mountains offer hiking, wildlife viewing, and photography opportunities. Visitors to this region must be well supplied with water and other supplies and have the means for navigation due to the remote conditions. |
