Expansive Views:

Lipan Point has views of the canyon as far as can be seen, with a scene that stretches far across the deep valley and the Colorado River. On clear days, you can see pretty darn far.

Colorado River:

It is especially visible from here, including the sharp bends of the Unkar Delta, an important archaeological site where ancient Puebloan peoples lived and farmed.

Geological Highlights:

From here, there are great views of the Vishnu Schist; these are some of the oldest exposed rocks in the canyon, with other colorful layers representing millions of years of Earth's history.

Sunrise and Sunset:

The best places from which to view a sunrise or sunset is from Lipan Point. The dawn light makes the canyon glow with changing hues of gold, orange, and red, perfect for photographers.

Facilities and Access

One can drive to Lipan Point, and there is a parking area located nearby. However, there are no big facilities like restrooms or water at this place, so it's best to prepare in advance.

Insider Tip

If you want to think quietly or simply enjoy the grand canyon in peace, Lipan Point is a nice choice. Bring binoculars to see the river and old sites down below better!
