Pacific Crest Trail

Mojave River Fork to Silverwood Lake

The Pacific Crest Trail heads west from the Mojave River Forks area toward Silverwood Lake, crossing dry hills along the northern foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains. Although this stretch runs mostly west, hikers following it toward Silverwood Lake are traveling northbound on the PCT, toward Canada.

The trail climbs away from the river drainage through chaparral and scattered shrubs, with views across Summit Valley toward the Mojave Desert. Shaded draws interrupt the exposed slopes, while vegetation thickens near wetter ground.

Approaching Silverwood Lake, the trail follows the surrounding hillsides, opening views of blue water framed by brush-covered ridges.
