Carry plenty of water, at least 1/2 gallon per person

If hiking alone, make sure someone knows where you are going

Watch for flash floods

Watch for signs of heat exhaustion (cool, moist pale or red skin, headache, nausea, dizziness fatigue)

Wear sunscreen, a hat and sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots

The best season for hiking is November through March

Choose a trail that best fits your abilities

Long pants are suggested for protection from cactus and rocks

Climbing on rocks can be hazardous, remember going up is easier than going down

Leave No Trace
