Hiking Tips Carry plenty of water, at least 1/2 gallon per person If hiking alone, make sure someone knows where you are going Watch for flash floods Watch for signs of heat exhaustion (cool, moist pale or red skin, headache, nausea, dizziness fatigue) Wear sunscreen, a hat and sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots The best season for hiking is November through March Choose a trail that best fits your abilities Long pants are suggested for protection from cactus and rocks Climbing on rocks can be hazardous, remember going up is easier than going down Leave No Trace Outdoor ethics |
