The Ancestral Mojave River - West Fork

Miller Creek

< Previous <> Next >

Miller Creek is one of the tributaries of the West Fork Mojave River, now flowing into the Miller arm of Silverwood Lake. Its history is tied to both the natural drainage of the San Bernardino Mountains and the later flooding of Cedar Springs Valley when the dam was built in 1971.

By the mid-19th century, Miller Creek was part of the network of streams that carried snowmelt and storm runoff westward through Summit Valley toward the Mojave River. After the construction of Cedar Springs Dam, its waters were impounded, creating the Miller Canyon arm of Silverwood Lake. Today, the creek and canyon support hiking trails, primitive group camps, and an OHV staging area, blending natural riparian habitat with recreational use.
