Silver Lake Rock Cairns

Silver Lake Rock Cairns

The Silver Lake Indian Rock Cairns are clusters of intentionally stacked stones, most likely constructed by Native Americans, discovered in the California desert, in the direction of Silver Lake. These cairns may have been used as markers or even as part of some kind of ceremony. Various small stone enclosures, each filled with these cairns, were located on the site, all carefully documented for their meaning to be studied.

Visitors are requested to respect this site for its cultural and historical significance. Disturbing or moving the stones can destroy valuable archaeological information and is also disrespecting the traditions of the Indigenous communities connected with this place. If one is visiting, it would be best to follow the guidelines that help in the protection and preservation of this heritage.
