Virginia Dale

The Virginia Dale Mine dates to the early 1880s and little is known of its first residents. Milling the ore initially gave unsatisfactory results and activities pretty much came to a halt by 1886. Later, during World War I, the Jim Sigifus developed the mine, installed a new mill and set out to sell for $500,000. Jim died suddenly and no deal was ever made. Dave Post leased the property in 1923, fixed up the mill, operated it for three days and was forced to shut it down due to a lawsuit. In the 1930's, another outfit came in and started processing forty tons of ore each day.
